Opis stanowiska

Researcher – didactic position is available in the Laboratory of Physiology and Toxicology of Reproduction at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. The scientific research of the Laboratory includes issues related to reproductive toxicology, reproductive biology and cancers of the female reproductive system. The research includes analyses of the effects of hormonally active compounds on processes in normal and cancerous cells of the ovary. In addition, research is undertaken on the molecular mechanisms regulating the progression of ovarian cancer. These studies are carried out using techniques for analysing proliferation, secretion, metabolism and expression of individual genes and proteins in vitro. The employed person will carry out the following teaching activities: tissue culture, and animal physiology, as well as selected topics within the courses: techniques and methods used in biological sciences and physiological research techniques.

Essential requirements:

a)      PhD in Biological Sciences;

b)      high evaluation of the doctoral thesis;

c)      positive opinion of the previous supervisor or scientific supervisor, including the assessment of:

– predisposition to work as an academic teacher;

– experience in independent teaching in the field of reproductive biology, endocrinology, laboratory techniques and animal physiology at the academic level, in Polish;

– candidate’s qualifications and predispositions for team research work and further scientific development;

d)      relevant scientific achievements, including publications in journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports in the field of reproductive toxicology, in particular, the effect of environmental compounds on ovarian function;

e)      experience in research work using modern molecular techniques applied in reproductive biology, in particular in vitro cultures of normal and tumour ovarian cells, assays examining cell viability, apoptosis and metabolism, assays analysing protein and steroid secretion, gene expression analysis (Real-time PCR), gene expression silencing  (siRNA), protein expression analysing (Western blot);

f)       documented scientific internships in scientific units;

g)      fluent knowledge of Polish and English in speech and writing;

h)      active participation in scientific life, manifested in particular in conferences and symposiums activities, and active participation in scientific associations.
